Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

The ordinary ministers are the priest and deacon. The extraordinary ministers are the many lay people who help carry Christ to the community.

The role of the Eucharistic or Extraordinary Minister is to assist the smooth execution of the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ. They do this only at the time of Communion and during the rest of the Mass, they participate as a member of God’s priestly people. Extraordinary Ministers can also assist in bringing Communion to the sick or homebound.

This includes several tasks such as cross bearer, candle bearer, incense bearer, and other tasks. Altar Servers arrive 15 minutes before mass to dress and prepare.

Lectors

“The Mass consists in some sense of two parts, namely the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist, these being so closely interconnected that they form but one single act of worship. The role of the lector is to proclaim the Word of God at Mass.
