Cathedral Restoration
In Alton since 1855, St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church is a beautiful reminder of the past. In 2022, with the church structure in great need of repairs, St. Peter and Paul embarked on a large capital campaign that hoped to raise $800,000.
With success, the capital campaign would cover the costs of restoring the Old Cathedral, which was in need of repair to stonework and tuck-pointing. The “Preserving the Past for the Future Campaign” would help bring an integral part of Christian Hill to future generations and continue the Catholic tradition.
The Capital Campaign Goal of $800,000 was reached in of August of 2024.
Many thanks to all who gave and continue to give to the greater needs of the parish. If you would like to schedule a tour or meet with Father Jeff, please contact the parish office at (618) 465-4221. You can also give online by clicking on the button below.
